Family Activities in Livingston

People underrate Livingston because it doesn't have the downtown of a Montclair or Westfield, but the rec department here is one of the largest in Essex County and the result is a deeper weekly schedule than most peer towns. The Livingston Public Library on Robert Harp Drive carries weekday storytimes, craft drop-ins, kids book clubs, and a summer reading program that runs hot. Memorial Oval is the in-town playground default. Riker Hill Art Park is a former Nike missile base with dinosaur footprints embedded in the stone. The footprints are easier to find than the trail signs suggest.
