Family Activities in Short Hills

The library is shared with Millburn, which matters more than it sounds: Short Hills doesn't run a separate calendar, and the Millburn Free Public Library on Glen Avenue is where storytimes and craft hours land. What Short Hills brings on its own is two of the better small nature destinations in Essex County. The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary on Forest Drive runs guided walks and weekend kids programs through the year. Greenwood Gardens hosts seasonal family days that are worth the timed ticket. Old Short Hills Park covers the playground default. We end up at Hartshorn on Saturday mornings about twice a month.
