Family Activities in Berkeley Heights

Most of what's free for kids here happens inside Watchung Reservation. The Trailside Nature and Science Center runs animal-meet days, weekend hikes, and seasonal festivals on a calendar that holds up year-round, including weekday school-break programming that's easier to walk into than the Saturday slots. The Berkeley Heights Public Library on Plainfield Avenue layers in storytimes, a STEM club, and craft hours. Columbia Park is the in-town playground default. The reservation is wide enough that a Saturday morning inside it feels like leaving Union County without leaving the zip code. Worth knowing.
